Little Athletics Australia faced a challenge that went beyond simply refreshing their website. The organisation needed a platform that could grow with its community, while also giving staff the confidence to manage and maintain it without technical barriers. The existing site was outdated, visually inconsistent, and difficult to update. It lacked the usability and accessibility standards required to deliver a seamless experience for members and stakeholders across the country. Staff were limited by the system’s constraints, and users struggled to engage with a platform that no longer reflected the energy and spirit of Little Athletics.
The solution was a complete rebuild of the website, approached through the lens of UX, UI, and product design. Starting with discovery and research, I worked to understand both the needs of the staff who would manage the system and the expectations of the broader community who would use it. The WordPress platform was restructured to be secure, stable, and scalable, with an emphasis on intuitive workflows that allowed staff to take ownership of content updates. On the user side, the interface was redesigned to improve navigation, simplify access to key information, and create an experience that was engaging, inclusive, and accessible across devices.
This work extended beyond the website into a broader suite of deliverables that ensured consistency and brand alignment. Annual reports, printed materials, and digital assets were all redesigned to complement the new online presence, creating a unified design system that tied every touchpoint together. The outcome was not just a modern website but an integrated ecosystem that empowered staff to work with confidence, gave members a clear and engaging digital experience, and strengthened the organisation’s ability to communicate its story across both digital and print channels. By focusing on usability, scalability, and brand alignment, the project delivered long-term value and established a foundation that Little Athletics Australia could continue to build upon.
